A wise man once told me, “Aloneness is your soul asking you to be simply with, to be quiet. Loneliness is pain – it is resistance to being alone with yourself.” Trekking through the wide desert canyons of Jordan, I am struggling. Fighting against a deep soul need to be alone – thinking that fulfillment lies in the distraction of days events. Restless. Uneasy. Confused. I leave the camp and climb to the top of a small hill, overlooking Wadi Rum. A full moon, low in the evening sky, begins it's nightly journey. It sits firmly in its own power, alone.
